Policies & Governance

Black Bro Phi Fraternity is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, equal, and accessible environment for all members, guests, and staff. All individuals engaging with the fraternity agree to comply with these policies.​

Code of Conduct

All members and participants must conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and accountability.

Members are expected to:

  • Treat all members, staff, administrators, and guests with respect — no harassment, pressure, bullying, or intimidation

  • Respect consent, communication, and personal boundaries

  • Handle disagreements maturely, without drama

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy

  • Uphold the values and standards of the brotherhood at all times

Strictly prohibited behaviors:

  • Threatening, hostile, or aggressive actions

  • Discrimination, violent, or disrespectful conduct

  • Blatantly ignoring communication, accessibility, or member concerns

  • Unsolicited explicit content

  • Demanding personal information, photos, or private data from leadership or members

  • Refusing entry or turning back at the entrance, which is considered disrespectful, slanderous to the fraternity, and unacceptable behavior toward staff or members, regardless of whether staff are Deaf or hearing

  • Hazing or attempting to threaten, intimidate, or coerce members in any way

👉 Violations may result in warning, suspension, or immediate removal from the fraternity. Executive leadership has full authority to suspend or remove any member who violates this Code, particularly in cases of hazing or threats.

Membership Rules

Membership in Black Bro Phi Fraternity is selective and values-based.

Standards include:

  • Applicants must agree with the mission, values, and policies of the fraternity

  • Membership is for Black men only, aligning with the fraternity’s cultural purpose

  • Zero tolerance for hazing

  • Prospective members may be required to complete an interview to ensure cultural and values alignment

  • Membership is a privilege, not a right

 

Members must also:

  • Respect leadership decisions

  • Maintain professional conduct at all events and communications

  • Follow safety, accessibility, and privacy policies

Safety & Accessibility

Black Bro Phi Fraternity prioritizes safety, respect, and equal access for all members, including Deaf and hearing individuals.

Policy requires:

  • Equal respect between Deaf and hearing members

  • No discrimination, exclusion, or unequal treatment of Deaf individuals

  • Accessibility accommodations must be respected at all times

Venue Security Awareness:

  • Many venues, including clubs, private spaces, and event locations, maintain security recording systems as standard safety practice

  • Security systems exist for safety, incident prevention, organizational protection, and accessibility

  • Security recording is not personal surveillance and is never shared publicly

  • Hostile, disruptive, or threatening behavior toward staff, administrators, or venue security will not be tolerated

Privacy, Recording & Media Policy

Security Recordings:

  • The fraternity never shares security recordings of individuals or their personal activities

  • Recordings are for safety, documentation, organizational protection, and accessibility only

  • Any misuse or misrepresentation of security recordings is a serious policy violation

Personal Photography & Media:

  • Individuals may take photos only in public spaces outside fraternity events

  • No personal photography or recording is permitted inside private fraternity events or venues

  • Media capture inside events requires explicit authorization

Zero Tolerance for Bullying or Harassment:

  • Members are prohibited from bullying, intimidating, or harassing staff, administrators, volunteers, or other members

  • Members are expected to respect safe spaces for all participants

  • Any violation may result in staff or administrators removing membership, honors, certificates, or other recognition

Judgment-Free Brotherhood

Black Bro Phi Fraternity is a deeply bonded brotherhood and family.

All members must:

  • Respect the fraternity as a judgment-free space

  • Honor the brotherhood bond, including gestures of friendship such as hugs, without attitude or question

  • Treat all members equally, regardless of hearing, Deaf, or cultural background

  • Uphold the integrity, respect, and trust of the brotherhood at all times

This ensures safe, supportive, and authentic connections among all members.

Membership Enforcement & Discipline

Participation in Black Bro Phi Fraternity constitutes agreement to all policies.

The fraternity reserves the right to:

  • Issue warnings

  • Suspend or terminate membership immediately for serious violations

  • Deny access to events, communications, or spaces

  • Remove honors, certificates, or other recognitions for violations

  • Take protective action to maintain safe spaces for all members

  • Take immediate action when safety, accessibility, or organizational integrity is compromised

  • Executive leadership has full authority to suspend or remove any member attempting hazing or threatening behavior, or who violates safety, privacy, or conduct policies

All enforcement decisions are final and made to protect the fraternity and its members.

  • Eligibility criteria, application, interview, and dues (if applicable)

C. Member Rights & Conduct

  • Respectful behavior, no harassment or hazing, confidentiality, compliance with laws and local policies

D. Leadership & Decision-Making

  • Leadership roles, responsibilities, term limits, and removal process

E. Discipline & Removal Process

  • Violations, enforcement steps, and appeals (if applicable)

F. Expansion & Chapters

  • Requirements to start new chapters, national standards, and leadership accountability

Black Bro Phi Fraternity enforces zero tolerance for threats, harassment, discrimination, unequal treatment, bullying, hazing, misuse of recording, disrespect toward staff, turning back or refusing entry at events, or violations of safety, privacy, accessibility, and safe space protocols. Staff and administrators have the authority to remove members, honors, certificates, or privileges to ensure the safety and integrity of the fraternity. Executive leadership reserves the right to suspend or remove any member attempting hazing or threatening behavior. Members must maintain a judgment-free, safe, and supportive brotherhood where authentic bonds, including friendly gestures like hugs, are respected without question or attitude.​
